Devontée – Bare Tings (Video)

July 30, 2015

By Uptown Toney

America’s fascination with the city of Toronto and it’s artist seems like it’s going to last for a long time, especially when our neighbors from the North keep making dope tracks and visuals as we’ve seen all year.

Take Devontée’s lead single for “Bare Tings” example. After hitting us with the blazing, bottom-heavy, self-produced cut in February, the Toronto rapper drops a one hell of a video for the track. “This visual welcomes you to Devontée district,” he told The FADER. “I did it for my woes and the neighborhood that raised me.”

Take a look at the video below and look for “Bare Tings” to appear on Devontée’s District Vibe mixtape coming later in the year.

By Uptown Toney

While the streets of North Jersey zone in on the Tax G and Fetty Wap beef, another buzzmaker from the state, Dougie F, arrives on the scene with a new mixtape entitled Block Party.

More or less like a block party around his way, the Orange, New Jersey native puts together an array of different vibes to create one hell of a lituation. Thirteen-tracks deep, Block Party brings back that feeling you got back when the weekend hit and the whole hood would be outside making the most out of life.

“Friday’s always felt like a block party. That’s when everyone was outside not looking past the day because it was a feeling we wanted to last forever. It was an escape for the adults they wild out, gambled, made sells, fought, got drunk and high. As a kid it was more so about staying out late, not having school in the AM, seeing all the wild shit that goes on in the hood, being mischief, chasing girls and just doing kid shit,” says Dougie.

He continued on stating, “As we got older we began to worry about clothes, music, and money. Maturing off the block with that same Friday mentality embed in us we carried that to wherever we went. From the block to the world, that’s how I see my life and my music. Something coming from somewhere so small to it giving off that relatable impact to places we haven’t even been yet.”

Stream Dougie F’s new project below and relive that Block Party feeling.
