On a mission to come out the gate strong in 2016, Jersey product TwonDon ended last year on a high note with the release of his Smoke DZA backed debut EP Stay Golden. Never once looking in his rearview Twon continues to push down on the pedal all the way into his latest release, a video for his project track “Million Dollar Babies.”
In the past, visuals from Twon have contained a lot of 90’s aesthetics and nostalgic feels, but on this go round, the emcee puts the breaks on that notion as he and director Vintage Modern create something different. In front of homie-theater sized television screen sit Twon’s little brother, mesmerized by the bright lights and vivid imagery the Don has bestowed upon him. Not too far away Twon spits his rhymes as provoking clips flash in-between.

Always paying homage to his city and the mood that brings, Seattle’s Ukrainian resident Avatar Darko recently released a new EP entitled Trapatar. The eight-track project featured a handful of bangers but one stood out in particular. It was Darko’s Jahlil Beats crafted hitter “Black’n Out,” and the rapper just so happens to have a video for it.
Like a throwback Rap video from the 90’s, Avatar can be seen in the streets with his crew as director Chris Volkman inserts some solo shits iced off with a few vintage style effects. A lot of talent coming out of the Northwest as of late, especially the dark, cloudy and gloomy cities of Portland and Seattle. Watch for more artist to break in these two areas in the near future. For now, peep Drako’s visual for “Black’n Out.”

Being very precise with his musical content, Yohannes is playing it smart when it comes to releases. The Grand Rapids, Michigan native latests digital distribution comes in the form of a visual for “I Need That” from his 2015 EP HANNE. Playing off the dark blue and purple hues Ron Oilers production cast, Yohannes’ video fills the screen nicely.
In an email from Yohannes, he stated, “My cinematographer brother Feeve Coppage and B Hence came up with the idea to display my distractions with other women in this video. With aims to induce the subject of needing that specific woman in the song, we made sure I was constantly involved in conversation, drinks, smoke, and long gazes with every girl in the video. The luminous lights show not the normal sticky situation, but a good vibe and gloomy enjoyment.”
Take a look at the visual above and be sure to peep Yohannes’ HANNE EP if you haven’t already.
