August 24th was a great might indeed and we have none other than Move Forward Music to thank. the crew brought Brent Faiyaz, Jimi Tents, Eli Sostre and Amir Obè to New York to close out their US tour.
Ending off the tour in NY is already major but for Brooklyn-by-way-of-Detroit, quiet rising R&B star Amir Obè, having his family and friends intern as he celebrates his birthday at the sold-out Highline Ballroom is epic.
The night started off with smooth R&B grooves by the newcomer out of Maryland, Brent Faiyaz. Brent set the tone for the vibe filled night serenading the ladies with his nostalgic tone. Following suite was Jimi Tents a Brooklyn-native who brought out his borough to engage in the 90’s retro wave he surfaced on.
Not keeping it all the way boom-bap Tint’s turned up the tempo during his set, lacing Eli Sostre to showcase his moody, echoey, late-night raps. Before the main event took center stage, New York DJ/producer Austin Millz took the stage for a quick set getting the crowd hype.
After spinning a few anthem Austin warmly welcomed Amir Obè who dazzled the crowd with cuts from his latest offering, Won’t Find Love in the Hills and his December mixtape Happening In The Grey Area. A great way to celebrate a birthday.
