HR Sparta – “The Rise In My Demise” [Mixtape]

September 26, 2016

By Kaitlin

Slaying demons and manifesting light through the art of audio interpretation is HR Sparta’s niche. Through shadow rapping and singing sonically soulish things, he purges passion with every sound. In his debut he covers a multitude of genres (disco, electro, hip-hop, acoustic, alternative, and future bass). Displaying a variety of raw vocal cadence, and exuding an array of synthesizing sounds, culminates this true display of artistic expression. Give his new project ‘The Rise in My Demise’ a spin via Soundcloud and be sure to snag it via iTunes if you like what you hear.

Maryland native Brandon Russell returns to the interwebs to deliver a new, slow-burning record entitled “Light.” He rides a hella smooth, melodic instrumental from Stwo, who lays down a light and airy soundscape over which Russell glides lyrically. with some nice verses and a slick hook to boot, “Light” is an easy listen from start to finish.

IYKZ – “KILO”

September 25, 2016

By Kaitlin

IYKZ (FKA Ikes) returns with his latest BZGD-produced audio contribution “KILO.” Last seen seeking guidance in the All Def Digital: The Signal presented visual for “Pray For Me,” the Hackney based recording artist looks to reach new heights with his latest effort. The new tune follows the commercial success of his singles “Clarity” and “No Commercial,” which gained notoriety from Grammy Award winning production group J.U.S.T.I.C.E League as well as BBC Radio 1Xtra.

Prophesying greatness for the seasoned emcee, the soft lullaby plays underneath screeching sirens and an onslaught of beats that together create a backdrop of mythos. And yet, IYKZ’s raps are what truly shine in the track: the lyrics inspired, and the delivery precise and intriguing. Derived from intense personal feeling, IYKZ explores his placement as an outsider, questions the impact a shift in ambition has on identity, and anticipates a rich musical legacy that — if “Kilo” is an indication — will assuredly come to pass.
