We recently caught up with hip-hop duo Cream Team Chicago, who are prepping the release of their upcoming Key2Life EP. They just dropped the lead single, “Welcome To Chicago.” Check it out here and get to know CTC better below.
Mechanical Dummy: So, you guys are from Chicago and you’re a duo. Sounds like you have a lot in common with The Cool Kids, who just announced they’re making a comeback. Seeing as you guys just opened for Sir Michael Rocks in Kentucky last month, days before the reunion announcement, is it safe to say you guys are fans and excited by the news?
Cream Team Chicago: Absolutely. They created great music and have marked their territory in the industry. It’ll be exciting to see what they come up with next.
MD: Would you also say that The Cool Kids were an inspiration?
CTC: Definitely an inspiration. They got Chicago blood and they’ve grown a phenomenal fan base.
MD: Speaking of inspirations, who else would you guys say make the cut for yours?
CTC: UGK and Outkast-both duos were at the top of their game. Showing how two different personalities can blend together into one historic sound. Jay Z and Lil Wayne – We would label them the pioneers from our era. They created empires that control the music industry today. Longevity in the game.
MD: Where did the name Cream Team come from?
CTC: The name Cream Team came about when we were in high school. We were always together and just wanted a name that identifies us as brothers and a unit versus Donnie Macc and Turk separately. Our acronym for C.R.E.A.M. is Chicago Represents Everything About Me.
MD: How did it feel having your single “Fly” debuted on Power 92.3? What was the reception like?
CTC: It was a huge milestone and fueled us even more to …read more

St. Louis hip hop artist, Ju, teased the upcoming release of his mixtape “New Levels, New Devils” with the release of the video “Rain” featuring James K., which premiered on WorldStar Hip Hop earlier this week, garnering more than 33K views during the first 48 hours it was released.
“Rain,” an empowering lyrical record, addresses balancing your goals with your morals and persevering through difficult times. The soulful hook delivered by James K, blends well with Ju’s flow and the beat cadence, which slowly escalates throughout the song.
The release of “Rain” follows Ju’s most recent record, “Die Young” featuring Eearz. Keep an eye-out for the visual to “Die Young,” and other records to be released in the coming weeks.
