Interview: Catching Up With Cream Team Chicago

February 21, 2017

By Kaitlin

We recently caught up with hip-hop duo Cream Team Chicago, who are prepping the release of their upcoming Key2Life EP. They just dropped the lead single, “Welcome To Chicago.” Check it out here and get to know CTC better below.

Mechanical Dummy: So, you guys are from Chicago and you’re a duo. Sounds like you have a lot in common with The Cool Kids, who just announced they’re making a comeback. Seeing as you guys just opened for Sir Michael Rocks in Kentucky last month, days before the reunion announcement, is it safe to say you guys are fans and excited by the news?
Cream Team Chicago: Absolutely. They created great music and have marked their territory in the industry. It’ll be exciting to see what they come up with next.

MD: Would you also say that The Cool Kids were an inspiration?
CTC: Definitely an inspiration. They got Chicago blood and they’ve grown a phenomenal fan base.

MD: Speaking of inspirations, who else would you guys say make the cut for yours?
CTC: UGK and Outkast-both duos were at the top of their game. Showing how two different personalities can blend together into one historic sound. Jay Z and Lil Wayne – We would label them the pioneers from our era. They created empires that control the music industry today. Longevity in the game.

MD: Where did the name Cream Team come from?
CTC: The name Cream Team came about when we were in high school. We were always together and just wanted a name that identifies us as brothers and a unit versus Donnie Macc and Turk separately. Our acronym for C.R.E.A.M. is Chicago Represents Everything About Me.

MD: How did it feel having your single “Fly” debuted on Power 92.3? What was the reception like?
CTC: It was a huge milestone and fueled us even more to …read more

Sean Scott – “Been Waiting”

February 21, 2017

By Kaitlin

Back in 1998, Noreaga released the third single off his critically acclaimed N.O.R.E. LP. Appropriately titled “Banned From TV,” the raw rap record featured uncensored guest verses from Hip-Hop greats Nature, Cam’ron, Jadakiss, Styles P, the late Big Pun and of course the Superthug himself.
Paying homage to the now classic collaboration, NYC bred emcee Sean Scott connect’s with DJ SwanQo for their rendition of the Swizz Beatz-produced posse cut they call “Been Waiting.” Serving as the latest leak form the Honor Roll recording artist’s forthcoming ScottSZN project, it doubles as a celebratory release in honor of Sean’s “Can’t Nobody Touch Us” visual reaching 50K+ views on YouTube in just over a month – with little or no media coverage.
Peep the video below and spin the track above.
