Footwerk – “Retrograde” [Video]

September 28, 2017

By Kaitlin

“Retrograde,” the title track single from Footwerk’s forthcoming EP, is the result of a spontaneous trip to Black Rock Desert’s annual Burning Man celebration in Nevada. Just before hitting the road from his hometown of DC, the band’s lead vocalist, Kyle meets a gypsy princess who would accompany him on a cross-country tour bus ride in search of the adult carnival. While in route, the pair were joined by members of the unnamed traveler’s hippie tribe. Upon arriving at the dream-like destination, the gorgeous gypsy kept Kyle mellow in the chaos of chasing art cars hosted by Skrillex or Diplo and awkward conversations in group showers. The pursuit of the elusive wanderer culminated at the ritual burning of ‘the man’, where she told Kyle, “Mercury is in Retrograde” while raving about the universe. It was that night, he wrote “Retrograde” for his free-spirited love interests.

Watch the action-packed video for the Chris Wright & Teddi WIthers-produced cut after the jump and purchase “Retrograde” via iTunes here. Please be sure to include the song’s Spotify embed if you decide to cover this release. Thanks in advance for your time and consideration. Peace!

Filmed on location in Portland, the cinematic clip is nothing short of greatness and serves as yet another example of why the rising rap star is a force to be reckoned with.

Pounds – “Mask and a Glock”

September 28, 2017

By Kaitlin

Pounds is one of the most promising and consistent hardcore hip-hop artists out of the state of New York and more fans of the art are taking notice.

With the success of his most recent project, TUNA, he shows no signs of slowing down. This time, he connects with his long-time comrade, eNox, to let loose of the first single, titled “Mask and a Glock” from his forthcoming Album, Rules and Parameters.

Both rappers flow swimmingly, delivering harsh verses over solid, sample-infused production also composed by Pounds. The Rochester dweller is heavily operative when it relates to RAP, so make sure to keep an eye open for what he’s about to pull out of his Supreme bag.

By Kaitlin

Fort Lauderdale rapper Juandisemo releases his brand new 6-track mixtape The Spark Up. Featuring production credits from SpeakerBangerz, Xavior Jordan, Sound Heights, and lots more, Juandisemo provides a wide-ranging tape of sounds. Inspired by his personal narrative, The Spark Up represents the bit before the burn, a metaphor that stoners are all too familiar with. Crafting up a pack of jaunty numbers, Juandisemo sets the tone as South Florida’s next big thing. The project is also available on iTunes and Spotify.
