Most beat makers take their craft very seriously and there are a few pet peeves that may result in bodily harm. Here are 5 of them.
1: Using beat maker’s beat without paying for it
Don’t take the liberty of thinking that you can throw a beat maker’s beat on our mixtape just because you found it on the internet somewhere. You can catch a lawsuit and a few left hooks if you ever run into the beat maker you victimized.
2: Re-selling his beat
I’ve been the victim of this. Someone licenses a beat from you then has the nerve to try to sell the shit to someone else at a much larger price. This is also a problem with some beat sites on the Internet. Sometimes the site selling the beats aren’t the rightful owners.
3: Wasting his beat by spitting wack rhymes on it.
Sometime a rapper will purchase one of your dopest beats, then spit some terrible lyrics on it. Then on top of that, he wants to put your name on the project as the producer!! Ugghhhh!!!
4: Screwing around with the beat maker’s music
Sometime you may have to give the artist access to all of your individual music files to a particular beat. And sometimes they’ll take it upon themselves to start fucking around with your instrumentation, changing the drums and whatnot. Don’t mess with my music, dude!
5: Unplugging a beat maker’s music hard drive before unmounting it
First of all, you shouldn’t be touching my equipment in the first place. But snatching the usb chord out of my computer before I get the chance to unmount it could result in me losing everything on it. Of course I have a backup, but that’s beside the point!
