LA rapper/producer Wes Period linked up with R&B newcomer YE Ali and Awful Records artist Tommy Genesis is quite interesting. After making a recording studio his new home, Wes hit up Craigslist and posted an ad offering session time to artists. The first person to hit him up was YE Ali. Off the rip the two created some heat but it was missing something so Wes called up his homie from Atlanta, Tommy Genesis. She came through and laid down some easy breezy bars. That one track spun off and generated 4 others to create and just like that the trio became baby.daddi.
The combination of YE’s 90s inspired Rhythmic Trap sound fused with Tommy Genesis nonchalant swag and Wes Period’s unorthodox production comes together nicely in what Tommy describes as a “Dream-like, dark palm tree serenity.” Stream baby.daddi’s entire self-titled tape below and/or download it here!
