Ending his incredible 11 time GRAMMY nominated year with a short film is TDE’s Kendrick Lamar presenting “God is Gangsta.” The title – more than likely taken from “The Story of Gangstalicious” episode of Aaron McGruder’s animated sitcom, The Boondocks, – combines K. Dot’s To Pimp a Butterfly tracks “u” and “For Sale? Interlude” for a seven-minute visual.
On the first half of this powerful double visual, directors Jack Begert and the little homies capture Kendrick alone drowning his sorrows in some liquor performing his emotionally charged album track, “u.” As the visual progresses there’s a baptism and the track “For Sale?” kicks into play. The little homies stay on point as director PANAMÆRA films the emcee out in Paris at Le Silencio surrounded by temptation as messages flash throughout the scene.
