Yung Reno – “Queens Get The Money” [Video]

December 10, 2017

By Kaitlin

Rising Queens emcee, Yung Reno, pays homage to the borough that raised him in the new video for “Queens Get the Money,” a laid-back and nostalgia-filled trip through the New York neighborhood.
The video is brimming with old-school vibes and sentiments thanks to the palette-shifting work of director #BehindTheSeeNez, who plays up the ‘90s-era sound of the track without getting lost in the past. You can also thank Reno for that, because “#QTGM” absolutely delivers on a timeless approach here that’s sure to please the older heads and the new cats alike. A big reason for that is the mellow approach by Reno, who delivers quick-hitting verses between his infectious, sing-song hook.

The track itself stems from Reno’s upcoming EP, Crown Royal 2, which remains in the works. We may not know much about it at this point, but if the project sounds anything like “#QGTM,” we’re definitely on our way to hearing something great from this gifted lyricist.

Check out the visuals, and be sure to support the single which is available now through all major digital retailers and streaming platforms. Stay tuned for more info on Crown Royal 2.

Just Juice – “WHO U R” ft. Mojo Margiela

December 10, 2017

By Kaitlin

Just Juice has had quite a year. Kicking things off back in April with the release of his Lil Yachty assisted jam “I Made It,” he followed up the collaboration with a cameo on VH1’s reality TV show ‘Signed.’ The buzz gained by the Beantown emcee’s relentless grind, sleepless nights and national visibility allowed him to book shows throughout the United States and even afforded him the opportunity to join Sway In The Morning for their ‘5 Fingers of Death’ freestyle series. Today, he’s back with “WHO U R.”

After years of searching for his sound, Singer/songwriter Tim Maiden realized being 100% honest in his music was the only thing that lead to clarity. Holding back his emotions not only stifled him creatively, it also led to a music career that was unfulfilling. He now finds himself exposing his truth by blending R&B melodies with lush soundscape’s. Maiden’s soulful vocals will captivate listeners instantly as evident by this current single “The Other Side.” The single landed on the Spotify’s Fresh Finds Playlists and was picked up by well respected music outlets. MSC Jay – “Mah Dawg” [Video]

December 6, 2017

By Kaitlin

When you think of rap, you probably don’t think about South Carolina. But MSC Jay is about to quickly change that. The young athlete turned rapper has set out to put his hometown, St. Helena Island, with a population of about 8k, on the map. The island is the cultural hub of the Gullah/Geechie people, a distinctive culture that began to emerge after enslaved West Africans were forcibly brought to the region.

MSC Jay’s sound is unique. This ain’t Nelly’s country grammar — MSC Jay seamlessly fuses his country roots with the local Geechie culture, effectively pioneering a new sub-genre of rap that he calls “country geechie culture.”

“Mah Dawg” is the ambitious MC’s first single; one where the stark contrasts between his painstakingly deliberate delivery and the upbeat tempo work together in perfect synchronicity to tell the story of life on St. Helena Island’s back roads.

His debut project, Geechie Gospel, will drop January 5th.

You can check the video above.
